All Aboard for Art at the Depot! Against the stunning backdrop of the historic Claremont Depot, guests enjoyed an evening of art and entertainment by the Jazz Doctors, accompanied by wine and great food by Spaggi’s. The event included a silent and live auction of unique art objects as well as art related activities.

Museum members enjoyed an authentic Santa Lucia celebration at the home of a prominent CMA patron and art collector. Harrison McIntosh 100th birthday celebration and exhibition
American Museum of Ceramic Art

The opening reception for the AMOCA exhibition HM100: A Century through the Life of Harrison McIntosh was held at AMOCA on September 13. Produced in conjunction with the Claremont Museum of Art, the exhibition celebrates the life and work of this legendary Claremont ceramic artist on his 100th birthday.

Over 800 visitors enjoyed the 10th Annual Padua Hills Art Fiesta, hosted by the Claremont Museum of Art on Sunday, November 3 with an outdoor art show, art and craft demonstrations, tacos, music and more. This year’s exhibit featured original Fiesta artist Betty Davenport Ford.

Fall Gala: A W
ondrous Evening: Celebrating the Watercolor World of Phil Dike

Lights shimmered and art took center stage as nearly 200 guests mingled with old friends and new at the third Claremont Museum of Art gala on Saturday, September 21.

Scripps College and the Ruth Chandler Williamson Gallery provided a beautiful setting and attendees were invited to explore Chasing Daylight: Philip Latimer Dike; 1927-1943, an exhibition of Dike’s early work curated by Kirk Delman. Keynote speaker Woody Dike provided an intimate look into growing up the son of an artist.

Museum members attended an Artful Tardeada at the home of Frank and Cathy Garcia on Saturday June 11 from 5-8 pm. Attendeeds visited the Garcia’s colorful home filled with folk art, Chicano paintings and the whimsical mosaic work of Cathy Garcia. Mexican nibbles, margaritas and wines from Liquorama were served at the event.

OpenART Studio Tour
Hidden among Claremont’s neighborhoods and business parks, dozen of art studios were opened to visitors. Over 60 people attended the self-guided tour followed by a fabulous party of tapas and margaritas at the Van Clapp home. Thirty-three artists participated in the day-long event giving the community a chance to meet many active Claremont artists.

Opening Reception, “Suspended Between Laughter and Tears
A lively crowd attended the opening reception September 30 of Suspended Between Laughter and Tears organized by Pitzer College Art Galleries with the support of the Claremont Museum of Art. Ader’s 1970s films dominated the walls of the Nichols Gallery juxtaposed with recent works of other artists influenced by Bas Jan Ader’s work.

An Artful Evening
Over 130 museum members enjoyed a summer evening on the patio of the McIntosh home, designed in 1958 by Fred McDowell. Members toured the home and visited the studio shared by ceramists Harrison McIntosh and Rupert Deese. Docents provided information on the McIntosh’s collection of fellow Claremont artists. Members also toured the house next door, an architectural gem designed by Richard Neutra, that has been lovingly restored and landscaped by homeowners Domingo and Martha Paglia.
